Matt and I love the outdoors and are daring in our own right. Heather of Twig and Twine brought in beautiful mosses and ferns as a backdrop to our story. We also gave our guests the option to donate to nature preservation causes in our registry.

Other venues in Los Angeles for your event
The invitations were a result of a worldwide collaboration between a graphic designer in Ohio, my mother-in-law in California, and myself in Australia. I knew I wanted to have a blend of materials in the suite and loved the idea of putting kraft paper, wood and cotton together. Alaina at Cheerupcherup printed the wooden RSVP cards and the envelopes. I requested the invite content as a digital file and had it made as a rubber stamp locally. I purchased homespun cotton and red thread at a fabric store, and kindly asked my mother-in-law to cut and stitch them to size. Once they made it back to Australia, I stamped and assembled the suite.
Uniquely Stunning Los Angeles Event Venues
It might surprise you (or maybe not) that I recently have been inundated with brides from the LA area asking for venue suggestions for a rustic type of space in the LA area. Kate, one of our contributing writers who works in LA turned me on to Carondelet House which is located in downtown LA. Constructed in 1928, this gorgeous property was built as an Italian Villa with an urban flair. With fantastic natural light, incredible architectural detail, and a great variety of texture and shape your rustic LA wedding can’t go wrong when booking it at Carondelet House. Carondelet House is a captivating event venue that exudes an old-world charm juxtaposed with the vibrant energy of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Rustic Wedding Venue: Carondelet House
Just a mile from Downtown L.A., this Italian Villa-inspired gem, erected in 1928, stands out with its historic brick facade and architectural detailing reminiscent of the 1920s. From plush lounging vignettes perfect for intimate conversations to two serene outdoor courtyards ideal for starlit celebrations, the space provides a multitude of options for personalization. The grandeur of the main rooms is complemented by the intimacy of a beautifully appointed bridal suite, ensuring a private and luxurious experience. The combination of historic architecture, versatile spaces, and modern amenities makes Carondelet House an unparalleled choice for those seeking an unforgettable venue for weddings and events in Los Angeles. Carondelet House is an embodiment of exquisite taste and vintage elegance, offering a multi-faceted space that combines the allure of historical architecture with modern luxury. Upon entering, one is greeted by a grand lounge area that showcases a blend of eclectic furniture, including plush sofas and antique chairs, set against the rustic backdrop of exposed brick walls and warm wooden beams.
Our event stylist created a guest book where our guests were asked to suggest adventures for us to go on or to give us any words of wisdom. Average base cost for a Carondelet House wedding is calculated by figuring a 125-person guest list for a Saturday night wedding with food and alcohol using their in-house caterer, Tres LA, and tax and service charge. Transportation to venue, entertainment, decorations, flowers, etc. are not included. I have a huge family so food cascades from various corners, while people zip from here to there, and kids crawl about. I wanted to maintain that freedom and liveliness and knew that how we approached food would be the major driver in delivering this. We decided against a formal sit-down dinner and thought that a cocktail reception with passed heavy and playful hors d’ouerves would allow people to move and mingle freely.

Six-time winner of "Best Catering in Los Angeles" and CWD's 2023 Member of the Year.
On the flip-side, because there are multiple areas, it’s easy to have both a ceremony and reception there, which is a plus. If you’re looking for a central Los Angeles venue, I would definitely check out the Carondelet House. I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for venues with this kind of vibe. It’s weathered yet romantic, and is more New Orleans than Los Angeles. They’ve done a great job with the furnishings, and if you use their in-house caterer, Tres LA, the venue rental fee is not absurd. While I love the look and feel of the Carondelet House, there are a couple drawbacks.
Built in 1926, the venue once served as the home of one of the most prominent architects in Los Angeles. Later acquired by the Otis College of Art and Design, the building’s creative lineage is evident in the unique design details throughout the property. There is simply no other property like it in all of Los Angeles.Hand stenciled fresco ceilings draw the eye as you enter the front rooms.
Whether you envision an intimate gathering or a larger celebration, their experienced team is committed to bringing your wedding dreams to life. From the initial consultation to the last dance, couples can trust that their special day will be executed flawlessly in this stunning and historic setting. The Save the Dates were old postcards that I collected in Australia. I designed and printed out the text content in a bold, masculine font backwards and did image transfers of them with acetone.
