It's immediate, when you walk through the door, to just get the energy that comes from that house, from the people that are there. They've all got many years of experience with people with memory problems, Alzheimer and dementia. Some of them are from their own family members, and they've had to experience that. So they draw on a lot of things that give them an advantage and make the residents there feel comfortable.

Rachel Strange has worked in ministry and education for her entire adult life. In her heart lives a passion for theology, mental health, and helping people know Jesus better. This role is the perfect intersection of those interests, and Rachel is so thankful for that. Burkle already had an interest in architecture, an enthusiasm that started when he was a teenager, looking for a world beyond the confines of his life in a working-class community. He started to read books about famous architects, including Frank Lloyd Wright, and was captivated by photos of Wright’s Ennis house, the largest of the so-called textile block houses that the master built in Los Angeles.

Just past the turnoff for the Horizon Mobile Village and RV Park, there’s no evidence of a multimillion-dollar project that will attract worldwide attention upon its completion. Some of the Cooneys’ other clients have included rock singers, movie stars and ex-presidents. Almost all of the multimillion-dollar homes the father-son team work on these days are in the gated enclaves in the eastern part of the Coachella Valley. Lautner would also rediscover his appreciation for the desert when he worked on several projects in the Coachella Valley, including the celebrated home he conceived for interior designer Arthur Elrod. But the design and construction of the Bob Hope house — which started in 1969 and ended in 1980 — nearly broke his spirit and soured him on Palm Springs for the rest of his life. According to the latest homeless count there are more than 60,000 unhoused people in Los Angeles County.

The Arroyo Seco Tiny Home Village is situated on a sliver of the 6.8-acre Arroyo Seco Park on the north side of 110 freeway near Avenue 60. It is being built at the edge of the park on existing asphalt to prevent the destruction of any trees. A hedge will be planted to blend the village with the park’s landscaping, and a nine-foot-tall barrier will be installed on the freeway side to mitigate sound. Hope of the Valley is inviting community members to “sponsor” a Tiny Home for $3,000 each. The sponsorship is designed to assist Hope of the Valley with the operational costs of the site. Hope of the Valley has an operational contract with LAHSA for the majority of the expenses incurred as the operator.

The wood also provided the “lighting troughs” for thousands of yards of LED tubing concealed inside the house. The Hopes hired Lautner in 1969, in part because they admired the circular house he had built for Palm Springs’ star interior designer Arthur Elrod, just down the street on Southridge Drive. But in 1973, just as construction was getting underway, a spark from a welder's torch set the roof’s wood sheathing on fire. The entire structure burned down in 15 minutes, and the project was stalled for five years while the Hopes fought a court battle with the contractor. Thanks to the deep pockets of venture capitalist Ron Burkle, the house is being remade to reflect the architect’s original vision. Lautner protégé Helena Arahuete, who worked with him for 23 years, has stripped the interiors and rebuilt the inside with natural materials.

Hope House began in 1976 in response to the growing epidemic of drug abuse in Orange County. It originally was modeled after programs that used confrontational types of therapy. Over the years, the program has incorporated new forms of interventions and treatment to address client emotional, health and vocational needs.

Yet economic circumstances, illness, and abuse are forcing more mothers and children onto the street. Women and children now make up 40% of all people experiencing homelessness. Residents and their families frequently praise Harvard Hope House for its high standard of care. Reviews highlight the attentive staff, excellent medical services, and the welcoming atmosphere. The dedicated team of professionals ensures that every resident feels at home and receives the necessary care and attention they need. Following Lautner’s practice of using mahogany to add warmth to his modernist structures, Arahuete strategically paneled many of the walls with the reddish-brown wood.

In the half of 2021 we have already added 534 beds to our existing 506 beds! Hope House staff has a combined total of more than 100 years of experience working with adults with drug and alcohol addictions. The agency has retained staff for many years, developed staff with expertise, and stability.

God used those trials to bring her to the place where she is today, serving Him in complete surrender. His official residence is in Montana these days, but he has a place in New York, a beach house in La Jolla and a townhouse in London. He also owns the Greenacres estate in Beverly Hills, where he has hosted scores of events over the years, always with a long list of notables in attendance. As she drove into the city and looked at the Southridge Drive property, Arahuete was surprised to see that the roof had been changed again — it was covered in copper, glinting from the hills like a second sun.

Despite its small size, this senior living community is designed to cater to the needs of seniors who value quality and comfort. She went to college and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing,  a profession she cherished until she became a homemaker. Through those years together, they raised four children, and she is now blessed with thirteen grandchildren. Lautner had spent his career creating striking domestic architecture across the world, including the UFO-shaped Chemosphere house in the Hollywood Hills off Mulholland Drive. But for years after its completion, the 10-bedroom Hope house was barely mentioned in admiring appraisals of the architect, who had developed his signature “organic modernism” as one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s star students. When the Hope house was mentioned at all by scholars or critics, it was usually with a sigh of perplexed disappointment.
